The Wayton Open is a vibrant tennis tournament founded by Matthew Wayton. What began as a friendly one-day tennis gathering in 2007 has blossomed into a multi-week tournament, marking its 16th anniversary in 2023.

Taking place annually in July at Southington High School, the Wayton Open caters to players of all skill levels. The tournament features an array of divisions, including Men's and Women's Singles and Doubles, High School categories, and Mixed A & B Doubles.

More than just a sporting event, the Wayton Open is a philanthropic endeavor. Every bit of support contributes to a charitable cause, with all proceeds dedicated to rescue dog organizations. Since 2017, the tournament has proudly donated $25,085 to aid in the medical care and rehoming of dogs in need.

Open to participants aged 12 and above, with no upper age limit, the tournament welcomes players of diverse skill sets. Every participant receives an official tournament t-shirt, water, and balls for each match.

The success of the Wayton Open relies on the generous sponsorship donations from local businesses and community members. Their contributions play a crucial role in providing refreshments, food, equipment, and event advertising, making the Wayton Open a truly community-driven and impactful event.
