TOURNAMENT DATES: JULY 13-21, 2024

LOCATION: SOUTHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL

Welcome to the Wayton Open! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported us in the past years - whether through participation, donation, or attendance. Your contributions have helped us make a real difference in our community.

As we gear up for the 2024 tournament, we're thrilled to unveil some exciting updates. This year, we're introducing new divisions tailored for high school players, including High School Boys A Singles, High School Boys B Singles, High School Girls A Singles, High School Girls B Singles, High School Boys A Doubles, High School Boys B Doubles, High School Girls A Doubles, and High School Girls B Doubles. We're excited to provide more opportunities for young athletes to showcase their talent and passion for the game.

In addition to these enhancements, we're dedicating this year's tournament to the memory of our beloved English Bulldog, Lulu "Belle" Wayton. Lulu brought immeasurable joy to our lives every day and left an indelible mark on our hearts. Her passing on March 23, 2024, at the age of thirteen, was heartbreaking. As Lulu's proud parents, we cherish the memories we shared with her and miss her dearly.

In honor of Lulu, we aim to surpass our previous donation records and contribute the highest amount ever to One More Dog Rescue. Every registration and donation brings us closer to achieving this goal and honoring Lulu's legacy.

We invite you to register for the tournament today or support us by clicking the donate button. Your participation and generosity not only celebrate the spirit of tennis but also honor the memory of Lulu and all our furry friends at the rainbow bridge.

To enhance our community efforts, we will also be hosting Cans-4-A-Cause on July 13-14. Cans-4-A-Cause was started in 2018 to educate Connecticut Residents and Businesses about the bottle deposits. Each year, over 720 million bottles and cans do not get returned for a deposit refund. Their goal is to take as of those containers that are not being returned for redemption, redeemed and the money put back into the community. Please bring your cans and bottles to the tournament !

Thank you for being a part of this meaningful journey. Together, let's make a positive impact in our community and continue spreading charity and compassion, both on and off the court

About the Wayton Open

The Wayton Open is the creation of Matthew Wayton. Matt organized a one day tennis tournament in 2007 as a way to bring together friends for a few games of tennis. As interest in the tournament grew, the annual community event expanded into a multiple-week tournament and became a popular summertime activity for residents state-wide.
